Writing started for me in my teens. I think it was Oprah who inspired me to write. I was watching the Oprah Winfrey show when she decided to share with the world that her uncle had sexually abused her. First, I was so intrigued about what she was saying, then immediately it confirmed what my uncle did to me. For the first time in my life, I felt understood. I knew that what he was doing was wrong but I did not have a name for it. Shortly there after, I began to journal. I found appreciation for writing because it helped me heal. Yes, healing is a journey and for me it took a long time to heal from the trauma endured. I was writing my inner thoughts and feelings, and I was journaling the Word of God. I want to share why I journal in hopes to inspire you to embark on a journey of healing and freedom. Journaling is an art. It does not have a right or wrong way to do it. Just start writing. It can be a sentence, a word, a paragraph, or you can even draw a picture. Nope, it does not have to be perfect. This is for your eyes only. One of my favorite ways of journaling is through pictures. I take tons of pictures of different moments in my life.
Why don't you give it a try and see. It does not cost a thing. Enjoy your journey!
